Frequently Asked Questions

I just need a quick doctor’s appointment, can you fit me in?

We keep a few appointment slots open each day for last minute bookings, because we understand that medical problems don’t often happen when it’s convenient for you, or with prior warning.

What is i can no longer make it to my booked appointment ?

We value all patients and endeavour to get you in to see your GP when you need, to do this we need your help!

We ask that if you cannot make your scheduled appointment, you contact the practice as early as possible, to allow other patients the opportunity to book in.
Failure to give at least 2 hours’ notice will incur a cancellation fee.
If you are booked in for a long appointment and are unable to attend, please provide at least 24hours notice.
Both staff and patients thank you for your consideration.

I have a specialised medical need, do you have a doctor who can help?

Our GPs have a wide range of skills and special interests, so it’s highly likely we can help. Give us a call on 4258 4242 or see our list of specialisations and service offerings here.

How much does it cost for an appointment?

Our price range is flexible, depending on the length and complexity of your visit.

Your out-of-pocket expense will generally range from $20 to $55 after the Medicare rebate, our admin staff will process your Medicare claim for you on the spot to ensure you receive your rebate quickly. Discounted fees apply to all pension/concession card holders aged 65 years and over.

Our pricing levels reflect the complexity and level of service for your visit. See detailed estimates for appointment fees here.

What does ‘meaningful medicine’ mean?

‘Meaningful medicine’ acknowledges that, when it comes to health, one size does not fit all, and one doctor may not have all the answers.

It’s a genuine patient-centred approach to health that is effective and targeted, and takes into account your complex, personal needs.

Your environment, relationships, work, diet, pressures and social connectedness all have an effect upon your health. ‘Meaningful medicine’ takes all these factors into account.

What kinds of activities can I get involved with at Village Practice?

We’re connecting Illawarra locals with their community and environment through classes and education sessions, cooking and gardening demonstrations, walking clubs and social groups. Stay tuned for more details to come!

I’m going to have a baby – what sort of support services can Village Practice offer?

Our antenatal shared care program with Wollongong Hospital offers the combined support of our local GPs and obstetric specialists at the hospital. New parents will also benefit from our nutritional assessments, antenatal classes, and through forging connections with other new mums and dads who are experiencing same challenges.
