What is an IBCLC?

International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) are key members of the maternal and child health care team, with specialised expertise in breastfeeding support. Although they come from a range of professional backgrounds and work in diverse settings, all IBCLCs meet strict eligibility criteria and successfully complete a comprehensive examination in breastfeeding management, clinical experience and lactation specific education. By collaborating with families, communities, and policymakers, IBCLCs deliver expert lactation care and contribute to improved public health worldwide.

attachment and positioning
supply concerns – low or oversupply
nipple damage
breast inflammation and mastitis
supplemental nursing system and aids
reducing and stopping top-ups
increasing supply
mixed feeding
expressing and storage
flange fitting
returning to work
weaning
infant behaviours and what to expect
how breastfeeding works/feeding patterns and understanding what’s normal
oral assessment – referral where needed
lactation after loss
adjustment to parenthood

Bookings:

Initial Lactation Consultation – $220

I will provide personalized support and guidance to help you reach your breastfeeding goals. I pride myself on providing support that extends beyond breastfeeding, offering compassionate, evidence-based guidance to help families navigate the many emotional and practical adjustments of early parenthood. Whether it’s building confidence, addressing newborn care concerns, supporting maternal wellbeing, or simply providing a space where you feel heard, I am here to support you every step of the way. Please allow 60-90 minutes. Includes 1 x follow-up phone call.

Follow-up lactation consultation – $110

Initial consult must be purchased first. Follow-up is not always necessary, however I will provide feedback after initial appointment as to whether I think you and your baby would benefit from follow-up. Please allow up to 45 minutes.

Mini support package – $375

For those wanting ongoing support with feeding and adjustment to parenthood. 1 initial consult plus 2 follow-up in the home, in clinic or via telehealth

The complete package – $550

I do believe continuity of care during this time in your life can set you up for success and achieve your goals. I have created this package as I love building relationships with people and providing ongoing support at your pace. As much as I would love to continue seeing you, if you decide you have everything you need after our initial consult, your package choice can be changed. Likewise, if you decide you would benefit from ongoing support, your package can be changed. The complete package includes initial appointment, 4 x follow-up appointments and phone calls after each appointment. This package will last for 12 months from your initial appointment.

“Hi, my name is Candice. I am a mum to 4 amazing kids, all unique in their own way. I am a Registered Nurse with post-grad qualifications in Child & Family Health, Community and Primary Health Care, Training and Assessment, Breastfeeding Education and Counselling and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

I am a proud member of The Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) and Lactation Consultants of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ).

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, the occasional stand-up comedy show and exploring the many beautiful beaches along the south coast with my family.

I live and work in the Illawarra, this is my local community. This gives me a great sense of belonging. I am raising my family here, in Wollongong so chances are, you will see me out and about at the local park or cafe.

It is a privilege for me to be welcomed into this chapter of your life. Whilst exciting, adjusting to parenthood can be a big transition. Helping parents build confidence, overcome challenges, and connect with their babies is incredibly rewarding.
